 Jack
P. Burden is a shareholder with
Backus • Carranza and is a litigation attorney with practice emphasis in products liability, construction, premises liability, food liability
and commercial litigation matters. Mr. Burden joined the Backus •
Carranza firm in 2000 and has successfully defended a myriad of
clients from Fortune 500 Companies, sports related entities to locally owned businesses and individuals.
Mr. Burden received his Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas in 1998. In law school, Mr. Burden
was on the Dean's List, contributed to the law school’s legal journal and served as a judicial extern for the Harris County
District Attorney’s office-Misdemeanor Division. Mr. Burden graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno’s Reynolds School of
Journalism in 1993, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a minor in Speech Communications.
Mr. Burden was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada and the United States District Court - District of Nevada in 1999. He was
later admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 2003. Mr. Burden has been a resident of the local Southern Nevada
community for over 33 years.
He is presently a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and is active with the DRI Young Lawyers and Product
Liability, Food Liability committees. Mr. Burden is also a member of the Clark County Bar Association, American Bar
Association, Clark County Legal Services' Pro Bono Project, The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Clark
County School District’s “Stay in School” mentorship program.
In 2006, Mr. Burden assisted the State Bar of Nevada’s Revised Jury Instructions Committee and authored the premises liability
portion of the project.
Mr. Burden has also authored “Preemptive Tactics In Avoiding Sanctions Surrounding Spoliation of Evidence For DRI
