Mr. Cwik was born in Baltimore,
Maryland, grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, and after completing his formal education,
moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1999 to pursue a career
in the law. Mr. Cwik double majored in Sociology
and Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
where he was a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta International
Sociological Honor Society, and received his Bachelor
of Science Degree (B.S.) in 1993. Thereafter, Mr.
Cwik remained at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
to enroll in graduate studies in the Department
of Child and Family Studies, where he earned his
Master’s Degree (M.S.) in 1996. During his
graduate studies, Mr. Cwik was awarded the Viola
Jurgenson Baker Fellowship, studied family law and
human development, performed one of the largest
research studies on domestic violence in religious
communities, taught a course entitled “Family
Relationships,” and served as the Midwest
Editor of the Family Guardian Journal. With his
expertise in family law as a backdrop, Mr. Cwik
then enrolled in the University of Wisconsin Law
School, and obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence
Degree (J.D.) in 1999. During his legal studies,
Mr. Cwik served as the Note and Comment Editor for
the University of Wisconsin International Law Journal,
completed an internship representing incarcerated
individuals at the Federal Prison at Oxford, Wisconsin,
and clerked for a large Las Vegas Firm which specialized
in civil litigation, insurance defense, and family
law.
Mr. Cwik was honored by the State
Bar of Wisconsin for obtaining the highest class
grade in both constitutional law and professional
responsibility. He has authored numerous professional
articles on divorce, domestic violence and fatherhood,
and has testified on family law issues before the
Wisconsin's Governor's Commission on Families and
Children. He has petitioned the United States Immigration
and Naturalization Service for the release of wrongfully
detained individuals, and has involved himself in
educating the public about the problem of Jewish
wives in divorce proceedings being held hostage
in their marriage by recalcitrant Jewish husbands
who refuse to give their wives a Get (“Jewish
Bill of Divorce”) under Jewish Divorce Law.
In addition, he is the co-author of a paper on parenting
delivered at the annual meeting of the National
Council on Family Relations held in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Cwik is admitted to practice
in both Nevada and Wisconsin (state and federal
courts), as well as before the United States Supreme
Court, and practices primarily in the areas of family
law, personal injury, construction law and insurance
defense. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada,
State Bar of Wisconsin, Clark County Bar Association,
and Nevada Trial Lawyers Association.
In addition to his active law practice,
Mr. Cwik is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at
Concord Law School, besides in Los Angeles, CA,
where he teaches courses in Civil Procedure, and
Medical Malpractice and Professional Responsibility.
In his spare time, Mr. Cwik enjoys
playing tennis, cooking, attending Wisconsin Badger
, Milwaukee Brewers sporting events, and spending
time with his wife, son and pug.
